For normal orders, the application time given to translators is normally 2 hours. Usually, the application will be on-going for the entire 2 hours but: 1. The application will end the moment the client chooses a translator that he/she likes out of those that have applied. When this happens, the translator can begin translating the order immediately. 2. When there are no applicants within the time period, the order will be cancelled automatically. When this happens, before placing the order again, we highly recommend you to try changing the application time to a different time-slot, or extend the delivery due date so that more translators will want to try applying for it. *For orders with the 90 minute option, the translator will be decided within 30 minutes after the order has been placed. For orders that are high in volume or require a high level of expertise, please contact our office for consultation. For such orders, we highly recommend the use of our “Concierge Plan” in which we will choose and assign a suitable translator for you.
At Transmart, all our translators apply for jobs at their own discretion after they have checked the content. Clients will then choose the translator they like best and thus is our Matching Process. That’s why our office will never force a translator to match up with a client they are not comfortable with. We only match and assign jobs to translators after gaining their approval first. However, if you have been assigned as the translator after you have confirmed the content (volume, language, delivery date, payment etc) and applied for the job of your own free will, please be responsible and deliver the translation on-time as a professional translator.
It’s vital for you to have the level of skills that the client expects you to have. If you already have the necessary skills, make sure your literary style suits that of the client, and don’t forget to contact the client in an appropriate manner. ◆ In the case of clients you already have dealings with We try our best to make sure that the client’s information is displayed as much as possible. Thus, you should find out about the client’s preferences and submit a translation that suits the client’s taste in order to increase your chance of being nominated again for future job orders. ◆ In the case when you want to increase the number of new clients You can use your Profile as a means to make it easier for clients to place their orders with you by explaining your field and area of expertise in a way that is appealing to the client, and by publishing your annual schedule for them to see. So you should convey information about yourself in a more proactive manner. You can update your Profile at any time, but please avoid writing down any false information. We use a Scoring system to evaluate our translators here at Transmart. We use all kind of indicators to score our translators, and the more achievements a translator has, the higher his/her score will be. However, it is also important for you as a translator to pass our Rank-up Tests, and increase your TOEFL scores. Your …
At TRANSMART, the process for our translators to accept a job is as follows: 1. Translators check the contents of the job (language, volume, deadline, content) 2. Translator apply for the job 3. If the matching up between the client and translator is successful, then the translator will officially accept the job. As a translator, when you update your Translator Personal Information (the information that will be visible to the client), you have to sign and agree to a Confidential Agreement. Should you decide not to apply for the job, or if you were not chosen by the client after applying for the job, please be aware that you are still bound by the Confidential Agreement to keep all details of the order to yourself. Hence, you will definitely be able to check the contents of the job first before deciding to accept it or not. In fact, it is actually your duty to check the contents of the order first before applying for it because you have to judge for yourself whether your skills and knowledge are sufficient for the order. Applying for a job that is beyond your current skill will result in a negative rating and reduce your score as a translator. Also, if you force yourself to accept an order and fail to meet the deadline, the fact that you were once late in making your delivery will be displayed in your past record under your personal information. During the application period, you can withdraw your application from the Job Order Details Page, as long as the client hasn’t chosen a translator yet. If for some reason, you discover that you are not able to commit to the work due to unforeseen circumstances, please withdraw your application as soon as possible. When that happens, you will have to leave a message to the client letting them know of your withdrawal, and this might tarnish your reputation in the future, so we highly recommend you not to do so.
At TRANSMART, you can apply for jobs only after you have passed the Registration Test, and have completely filled in all details in your Profile section. The clients are not able to view any of the translator’s personal information; they will only be able to view the translator’s profile as a translator. That’s why we have to ensure that all our translator’s profile are complete before they can start applying for jobs in order to maximize their appeal to potential clients. – For those who haven’t passed (or haven’t taken) the Registration Test Please take the Registration Test. Even though the test is difficult, you can retake it as many times as you want. Your score will be displayed instantaneously and if you fail, you have to wait 1 hour before you can retake the test. – For those who haven’t filled in all details in the Profile section Please fill in all the details of your Profile by clicking on the Edit button on the Profile page. You can start applying for jobs after you have filled in all details in the “Log-in Information”, “Translator Information” and “Skill Information”. We highly recommend you to write as politely and appealing as you can in the sections that will be visible to the clients.
You can communicate with the clients through the usage of the Messaging Function that can be found in the Members Page. You can send and check your messages by clicking on the “Message BOX” icon at the top of the Members Page, or by clicking on the “Open Message BOX” icon at the Order Details Page.
