What is an “Audition Order” and/or “Trial Translation”?

“Audition Order” is a function that we have specially created for clients who need to place an order periodically (e.g. weekly or monthly). By using this, clients are able to test the capabilities of the translators beforehand through the means of an audition test. This will allow them to select a translator that suits them best, thereby saving them the time of having to choose a translator before every order.

As such, no additional fees will be incurred for an “Audition Order”. However, clients who wish to place an “Audition Order” are obligated to place a fixed number of orders continuously with us.

On the other hand, after we have received an “Audition Order” from a client, the translators will receive a notification for a “Trial Test”. The translators will then review the contents of the “Trial Test”, and should they decide to try applying for it, they will click on the “Apply” button before the Application Due Date (as stated previously, the translator will not get paid for taking the “Trial Test” as it is merely an “Audition”). The client may also review the profiles of the translators who have applied, and allow only those they deem as suitable to take the “Trial Test”. Once a translator gets the approval from the client, it will appear under his/her “work in progress”, and he/she is obligated to finish it by the deadline given.

Although the translators do not get paid for taking a “Trial Test”, if they managed to pass it, it will greatly increase their chances to get a job. Moreover, clients who like their translations will also nominate them, thereby increasing their number of job orders.

At TRANSMART, we highly recommend all translators to participate in as many “Trial Tests” as they can to boost their marketability.
