How much remuneration can I receive for a job?

The remuneration you will receive for a job order is displayed before you choose to accept the job or not. Our business policy is to always display the amount of money the translator will receive. Also, in general, the remuneration our translator will receive is calculated by multiplying the number of words with the unit price (for English to Japanese translation), or by multiplying the number of characters with the unit price (for Japanese-English translation). We will accumulate the total every month, and transfer the total after deducting taxes and bank transfer fee to the bank account registered on the 20th day, 2 months after the order has been completed. For orders that are placed directly by our office staff, we will transfer the remuneration on the 20th day of the following month. Please take note that if you fail to deliver the translation on-time, there will be penalties and depending on how late the delivery is, you might not receive any remuneration at all. At Transmart, we believe that “keeping your deadline” is the most important factor contributing to the trust relationship between clients and translators.

How will I receive my remuneration?

We will transfer the money to the bank account you’ve registered on the 20th day, 2 months after the translation has been delivered. For example, if you have delivered the translation successfully to the client on 25th January, we will transfer the remuneration to your bank account on 20th March.

If there is a delay in the delivery of the translation, will there be any deductions to the payment?

Depending on how late the delivery is, the payment will be deducted accordingly. For orders with the “90 Minute Delivery Option”, even if the delivery is only 1 minute late, there will be no charge at all to the client for the translation. Likewise, the translator who worked on the translation will not receive any remuneration too. For other plans, if the delivery is under 30 minutes late, the payment will be deducted by 30%, and if the delivery is between 30 to 60 minutes late, the payment will be deducted by 70%. If the delivery is more than 60 minutes late, there will be no charge for the translation. (This reduction rate is also applicable for the translator in charge. For example, if the translator delivers the translation 45 minutes late, the remuneration he/she will receive will be 30% of the original payment. And if the translation was delivered more than 60 minutes late, the translator will not receive any remuneration at all.)

What should I do if I’m not able to meet my deadline?

This is a huge problem. If you realize that you won’t be able to meet your deadline, please contact TRANSMART as soon as possible. At TRANSMART, regardless of the reason, our strict business policy requires us to give big penalties for all late deliveries. All translators have checked and applied for the job at their own discretion, so when you are not able to deliver your translations on time, your remuneration for the job might be reduced or withdrawn completely depending on how late you are. Also, your score as a translator will be reduced, and if you fail to meet your deadline more than 3 times in 6 months, your registration as a translator will be deleted. Even though it is easy to raise your score up again, it is very difficult for you to regain the trust that the clients have placed in you. Hence, in order to make sure you don’t miss your deadline, you have to manage your schedule properly and be sure to apply only for jobs you are sure you can handle.

Is there any penalty for late deliveries?

At TRANSMART, our business policy is very strict when it comes to late deliveries. Translators who are unable to meet their deadline and are thus unable to deliver their translations on-time, will be given the following penalties: * For normal translation order: – remuneration will be reduced by 30% for orders that are less than 30 minutes late – remuneration will be reduced by 70% for orders that are 30 to 60 minutes late – remuneration will be reduced by 100% for orders that are more than 60 minutes late * For orders with the “90 minute delivery” option: For this option, even if you are 1 minute late in delivering your translation, you will not be given any remuneration at all. * Under your Translator’s Personal Information, the fact you have failed to deliver on-time will be displayed under your past record, and your score will also be deducted according to the amount of penalty. When your score is reduced, there might be jobs that you won’t be able to apply for anymore. For clients, having a late delivery will reflect really badly on their side. So we ask all our translators to be professional and to avoid delivering your translations beyond the promised deadline at all costs.
